Chantal Pontbriand has been appointed Tate Modern’s Head of Exhibitions Research & Development, the museum has announced. The position will see Pontbriand working with Sheena Wagstaff, Tate’s Chief Curator, to coordiante ongoing research projects which will feed into the gallery exhibition programme.
Pontbriand has previously worked as a curator, writer and art critic, sittings on the board of directors of the International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art and having been the founding-director of PARACHUTE journal. Her interests diversify from straight visual art however; from 1985 to 2004 she presided over the Festival International de Nouvelle Danse in Montreal.
