Residency Program 2019-2020

Atelier Silex welcomes professional artists to take part in a production or research residency. Atelier Silex is interested in hearing from artists wishing to explore:
The residency includes:

a furnished room – bed, table and work space, storage shelves – with access to an equipped kitchen and a shared bathroom – with washer and dryer
-
access to one or two of our specialized studios: ceramic, glass, woodworking, metal work, and stone carving
-
access to our multifunctional room equipped for audio and video installations or the gallery space, to share creative processes and research with the public during the residency
-
a maximum of four hours per week of specialized technical support.
Selected artists agree to:

give a talk at the beginning of their residency describing their artistic approach and journey as a professional artist. The presentation should be approximately 20 minutes
-
undertake a creative process and share their findings and artifacts with the public during a closing exhibition.
The residency costs $250CAD per week ($100 for lodging, $150 for access to studios and technical support).
A/S Grant
The candidate for the A/S Grant is selected by a jury consisting of two member artists and Atelier Silex’s art director as well as an invited artist or curator. The grant covers a residency stay up to a maximum of four weeks – $100 for weekly lodging, $150 for weekly specialized studio access, $150 weekly allowance, for a maximum of $1600CAD. The grant does not cover transportation costs.
Creation-Contribution Program
The Creation-Contribution Program covers all residency fees of $250/week to a maximum of $1,000, in exchange of volunteer work in one of the specialized studios related to the resident’s artistic project.
