As the first artist-run centre for visual arts in Newfoundland & Labrador, Eastern Edge remains committed to exhibiting contemporary Canadian art, as well as encouraging dedicated, rigorous activity locally. Through the strong curatorial focus of its programming, Eastern Edge continues to facilitate the critical dialogue surrounding issues in contemporary art and society, acting as analyst and activist within this society. Eastern Edge offers support, skills development, a sense of community, information and resource-sharing, and a meaningful context for artistic activity. The gallery’s board of directors are fully committed to the highest standards of professional treatment of artists, in all aspects of the centre’s activities.
Submission Deadlines:
March 31 annually for exhibition work.
Proposals should include:
- 10-15 images (jpegs) and or VHS, CD ROM, URL (for net based works)
- CV
- Proposal/ Project Statement
- Artist statement
- Any other additional support material
- Self Addressed Stamped Envelope

Eastern Edge will produce 100 buttons of selected projects. If design is complicated some materials and technical help may be required of artists. Artists should send in their project description and design for a 1 inch button. If we select your button design(s), then your button will be on view in the Pin-In Gallery, a wooden presentation box with a glass front which is permanently fixed to the right of the entrance to Eastern Edge. Each project will be shown for about 10 to 12 weeks.
For your design, or designs, you will receive an artist fee of $50, and 10 of your buttons.
