The centre d’art et de diffusion CLARK is an art and dissemination centre run by a collective of some thirty artists and cultural workers who ensure by their continued involvement and presence its artistic and administrative direction. CLARK is active both in research and production as well as dissemination. It defines itself as a flexible and multi-purpose space that is open to the most innovative forms of artistic expression. The centre distinguishes itself by consisting of a plurality of spaces of complementary autonomous functions. In addition to the gallery—with its two exhibition spaces—and to the individual production studios, in 1998 the Atelier CLARK was created, a specialized workshop specifically equipped for woodworking open to the entire community. Since 1998 as well, CLARK’s presentation program has been complemented by a research and production residency program which enables several artists and collectives to make and show work within our walls each year. On a daily basis, CLARK defines itself as a space for coming together, meetings, exchanges and discoveries, a stimulating cross roads between research and sharing of knowledge which encourages reflection about art which-is-being-made-in-the-present. Clark encourages collaboration, communication and the circulation of ideas among artists and organizations from here and abroad. Without any pretensions, CLARK claims the responsibility of having something to show, of surprising, of pleasing… and, why not?, of displeasing sometimes! All this within a perspective of concretely participating, with all the risks that this implies, in the propagation of contemporary art from here and elsewhere.
